California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)
DHCS is the backbone of California’s health care safety net, helping millions of low-income and disabled Californians each and every day. The mission of the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is to provide Californians with access to affordable, integrated, high-quality health care, including medical, dental, mental health, substance use treatment services and long-term care.

California Department of Insurance (DOI)
CDI is the largest consumer protection agency in the state. All of CDI's functions, including overseeing insurer solvency, licensing agents and brokers, conducting market conduct reviews, resolving consumer complaints, and investigating and prosecuting insurance fraud, are to protect consumers.

California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC)
The California Department of Managed Health Care is a first-in-the-nation consumer rights project. It was launched to help Californians resolve individual problems with HMOs and ensure a better, more solvent and stable managed health care system.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, CMS, is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The programs they administer include: Medicare, Medicaid Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations - JCAHO
An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.

Livanta
Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization (BFCC-QIO) - there are two kinds of QIOs. BFCC-QIOs, like Livanta, review appeals and complaints about health care for Medicare patients. Quality Innovation Network (QIN) QIOs work with providers to improve care. National Committee for Quality Assurance - NCQA
The National Committee for Quality Assurance is a private, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. Since its founding in 1990, NCQA has been a central figure in driving improvement throughout the health care system, helping to elevate the issue of health care quality to the top of the national agenda.

Associations

America's Physicians Groups (formerly CAPG)
America's Physician Groups is the leading association in the country representing physician organizations practicing capitated, coordinated care. Their membership currently comprises 200 multispecialty medical groups and independent practice associations (IPAs) across 40 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

American Medical Group Association (AMGA)
AMGA is a 501(c)(6) trade association representing medical groups, health systems, and other organized systems of care, including some of the nation's largest, most prestigious integrated delivery systems. AMGA is a leading voice in advocating for efficient, team-based, and accountable care. AMGA members encompass all models of organized systems of care in the healthcare industry.

California Association of Health Plans (CAHP)
The California Association of Health Plans' mission is to serve their members by creating and sustaining an environment that permits them to maintain viability and grow as organizations dedicated to coordinating or providing high quality, affordable, accessible health care to their members.

California Hospital Association (CHA)
At California Hospital Association (CHA), they collaborate with their members to provide strong and effective representation and advocacy to advance the interests of California hospitals, patients and communities. CHA is a trusted resource, working with members to achieve legislative, regulatory, and legal accomplishments at the state and federal level.

Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA)
The nonprofit Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) convenes diverse stakeholders, including physician organizations, hospitals and health systems, health plans, purchasers and consumers committed to high-value integrated care that improves quality and affordability for patients across California and the nation.

California Health Advocates
Founded in 1997, California Health Advocates is the leading Medicare advocacy and education non-profit in California.

California Healthcare Foundation
The California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) is dedicated to advancing meaningful, measurable improvements in the way the health care delivery system provides care to the people of California, particularly those with low incomes and those whose needs are not well served by the status quo. They work to ensure that people have access to the care they need, when they need it, at a price they can afford.

HIPAA

Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI)
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) is the leading authority on the use of Health IT to improve healthcare information exchange in order to enhance the quality of care, improve efficiency and to reduce costs of the American healthcare system. Formed in 1991 by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), WEDI was named in the 1996 HIPAA legislation as an advisor to HHS and continues to fulfill that role today.

Office of Administrative Law
The Office of Administrative Law (OAL) ensures that agency regulations are clear, necessary, legally valid, and available to the public. OAL is responsible for reviewing administrative regulations proposed by over 200 state agencies for compliance with the standards set forth in California's Administrative Procedure Act (APA), for transmitting these regulations to the Secretary of State and for publishing regulations in the California Code of Regulations.

The official site for California legislative information. This website lists all reports required by statute to be prepared and filed by state and local agencies with the Legislature or Governor.
