Subject: HICE CEO Update - September 2025
Message:

To HICE Participants

Welcome back to the bi-monthly CEO Update, designed to keep members apprised of the current happenings at HICE. Here is what has been going on since my last report:

2026 Operating Budget Funding Request Letters Coming Soon!

HICE relies on annual contributions from health plans, provider organizations and other health care industry entities to support educational and collaborative activities as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The 2026 funding request letters are in the process of being sent to participating organizations this month, and our important work cannot continue without this critical funding. Those organizations not currently contributing are strongly encouraged to consider donating to help fund the 2026 operating budget to allow HICE to continue to provide a forum to facilitate collaboration and standardization for the healthcare industry.

Please discuss with your leadership the importance of supporting HICE to assist industry organizations to more readily and easily comply with regulations. You can view contributing organizations for 2025 here. Thank you for your support!

Association Partnerships / Joint Presentation on Collaboration at the 2025 CAHP Annual Conference, September 29 to October 1, 2025 – JW Marriott Desert Springs

On Tuesday, September 30, from 2:45 - 4:00 p.m. (PT), HICE and America’s Physician Groups (APG) will be conducting an informative session at the 2025 CAHP Conference:

Reducing Friction While Increasing Sharing - the Health Plan and Provider Challenge”

Session Overview: Health plans and health care providers share a universal goal of delivering the best care possible. In California’s unique health care system, we have shared that overarching goal for decades. Yet challenges remain, and problems are unsolved. In particular, collaboration on data collection, reporting, and information sharing continue to be challenging. There are numerous health initiatives underway in California that require us to work together. At this session, the following panelists will be discussing ideas for further collaboration and improvement:

  • Bill Barcellona, Executive Vice President, Government Affairs, America's Physician Groups
  • Mike Myers, Chief Executive Officer, Health Industry Collaboration Effort
  • Jaya Kurian, Chief Financial Officer, Heritage Provider Network
  • Dorothy Seleski, Medi-Cal President, Health Net
This panel discussion will be framed around the following topics:
  • Where We Are
  • What Needs to Change / Where We Need to Go
  • How Do We Get There? / Blueprint for Transformation
  • Existing Collaborations / Potential Solutions
We are grateful to CAHP for extending this opportunity and look forward to seeing you there!

Until the next update, please feel free to contact me at mmyers@iceforhealth.org or at 530-562-4235, with any suggestions, questions or comments. Thank you!
